The main items of Albanian exports are textile and footwear products; minerals, fuel and electricity; construction materials and metals; food, beverages and tobacco products. Import items include machinery, equipment and parts; food, beverages and tobacco products, chemical and plastic products and textile and footwear products. Textile and footwear exports, which have been rapidly increasing in Albania in recent years, have an important place. Almost all of the textile, ready-made clothing and footwear manufacturing in the country is carried out by subcontractors that are suppliers of Italian ready-made clothing companies. The most important markets are Italy, Germany, Greece, France and the Netherlands. Italy alone imports 80% of Albania's exports in this product group. The country's main import partners are Italy, Spain, Germany and Greece, while its import partners are Italy, Turkiye, China and Greece. In determining Albanian customs tariffs, the provisions of the agreements signed with the European Union, EFTA and CEFTA countries, as well as the Free Trade Agreement signed with Turkiye in 2008 are applied. The Free Trade Agreement between our country and Albania was signed in Tirana on December 22, 2006. The Council of Ministers' Decision regarding the approval of the agreement was published in the Official Gazette dated March 12, 2008 and numbered 26814 (Repeated) and entered into force on May 1, 2008. When the list of products subject to preferential trade in the annex of the agreement is examined, it is seen that various rates of tax reductions are applied for 33 product groups from Albania to our country (cheese, eggs, honey, tomatoes, onions, cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, beans, melons-watermelons, peas, some medicinal plants, some shelled fruits, some vegetables, some fruit preserves, alcoholic-non-alcoholic beverages, etc.), while preferential trade is foreseen in various amounts and rates for 46 product groups originating in our country (some cheeses, eggs, honey, legumes, hazelnuts, walnuts, chestnuts, pistachios, figs, grapes, citrus fruits, apples, cherries, peaches, strawberries, spices, chocolate products, cocoa products, baker's products, various fruit and vegetable preserves, jams, fruit juices, yeasts, ice cream, drinking waters and feed). Albania applies a customs duty of 15% for canned fruit and vegetables and tomato paste, some alcoholic beverages, ready-made foods, some medicinal plants and cut flowers for goods originating from our country and third countries, and between 0 and 10% for other products.
